6/18/14
I’m half-way through my MTC experience! We are officially considered oldies here now,
hahaha. I feel like I’ve only been here
a week. I was released from being the
District Leader (they always do this at the half-way point.)
I’m doing awesome. I
love P-days. Today we went to the
temple. We forgot to do our laundry
first, but we will have time for that later on today. I got pockets added to two of my skirts. Woot!
I wish I could get more, but they will only do 2 items.
We didn’t get any new people in our zone this week.
To the family: I got your postcards from the Redwoods. I love getting postcards! How in the world did you coordinate all those
people? Send me more pictures of the
trip. I love getting them.
It was pouring buckets of rain all day long yesterday. I put on my raincoat and found your note
Mom. It made my day!
We are losing both of our teachers and getting 2 new
ones. One is moving to the main campus
and the other one got another job. I can’t
believe I’m losing Hermano Angel. He’s
the best teacher. He has the best sense
of humor and knew so much about teaching the language.
Two of the hermanas in my district flew to Las Vegas to go
to the Mexican consulate this past week, but on different days. We had an awesome experience while I was in a
trio. We had an appointment with a
golden tag investigator couple (they are real investigators who volunteer to be
taught by us newbies.) We aren’t
supposed to teach real investigators until our last week here, but their
missionaries didn’t show up. We got
there and waited for 30 minutes, but they didn’t come. Just when we were going to leave, they
came. Jose is a 60 year old man from
Guatemala. His life growing up was
horrible. We didn’t speak a lot in
Spanish because his English was so good.
I have never felt the Spirit so strongly in my life. It was a sacred experience. I learned so much from him. He has a truly humble spirit. He is a wonderful example to me of Christ-like
attributes. It’s the Lord’s work for
sure.
Elder Ballard spoke to us this week which was awesome! Two of the Twelve in 3 weeks. His talk was great and we learned a lot.
We taught a really great lesson yesterday to Gilberto. Once again, I’ve leaned that what is
important in a lesson is 1) having the Spirit there and 2) your attitude. Happiness, joy and sincerity make all the
difference in the world. We were happy
to be there and not afraid of the language or of not knowing what to say. (Or maybe I was just so nervous that it made
me giddily happy.) Here’s hoping he’ll pray
and read the assigned chapter. J
I love you and miss you all!
You should write or email me!
Paz este con ustedes, Annika
